Finding a PG in Nagpur without a broker: the 2026 checklist
11 June 2026 · 7 min read · Team Tifstay
Moving to Nagpur for college or a new job? The PG hunt is where most people lose money, time and patience. Here's the checklist we wish everyone had — whether you find your place on Tifstay or anywhere else.
Before you visit
- Fix your radius first. Pick 2–3 localities by commute, not rent. Hingna for MIDC, Manish Nagar for the IT corridor, Medical Square for GMCH, Dharampeth for West Nagpur colleges.
- Demand real photos. If every photo is wide-angle and empty, ask for a phone video taken that day.
- Ask for the all-in price. Rent + electricity + mess + laundry + maintenance. The headline rent is rarely the real number.
At the visit
- Count the beds, not the rooms. A “2-sharing” room with 3 beds tells you everything about the management.
- Check water timings and backup. Nagpur summers are not the time to discover a dry tank.
- Read the curfew and guest rules before paying, not after.
- Talk to a current resident out of the owner's earshot. Two minutes of honesty beats twenty photos.
Before you pay
- Never pay a “visiting charge.” That's broker tax with a costume on.
- Get the deposit terms in writing — amount, deductions, refund timeline at move-out.
- Pay digitally, get a receipt. Cash to a stranger with no paper trail is how deposits vanish.
Or skip the gauntlet
Everything above is exactly why Tifstay exists. Every PG and hostel on the platform is verified by our team — real owner, real photos, real amenity lists. Prices are transparent, deposits are paid in-app via Razorpay with a proper invoice, reviews come from residents who actually stayed, and there is no brokerage — ever. Browse PGs & hostels on Tifstay, shortlist in the app, and book a bed in minutes.
And once the stay is sorted, the next question is dinner — we've got that covered too.
